Daimler’s aim in terms of water protection is to use this precious commodity as sparingly as possible and to avoid contaminating water resources. That applies particularly in countries with dry climates. Our bus plant in Monterrey, Mexico, demonstrates that even minor improvements in sanitary facilities can pay off in locations where water is scarce. Here we have installed state-of-the-art electronically regulated faucets and waterless urinals, which together can save more than 2,200 cubic meters of water per year.

In general, most of our production plants do not channel their wastewater into lakes or rivers. Instead, following appropriate pretreatment, it is channeled into local water treatment plants through the public sewer system. Detailed data regarding the various wastewater parameters can be found in the environmental reports of the EMAS-certified plants.
